NANTUCKET, Mass.:The Nantucket Historical Association is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to the NHA Board of Trustees at the NHA’s Annual Meeting on Friday, July 8.
Josette Blackmore has been a summer resident of Nantucket since 1998. A graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, she has owned and operated her own interior design business since 1977. At her winter home in Albany, New York, she devotes her time to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Albany Institute of History and Art and the Historic Albany Foundation. She is also an active member of the League Club in Naples, Florida. She has served for many years as a dedicated member of the August Antique Show committee, and was Underwriting Chair for two of those years.
Michael Cozort has been the Superintendent of the Nantucket Public Schools since July of 2010, and is a year-round resident of the island. Prior to coming to Nantucket, he worked for 34 years in a variety of roles – both educational and administrative – in two different school districts in New Hampshire, where he was honored as Superintendent of the Year in 2006. The son of a military profession, Mike was born in Germany and moved frequently from base to base. He graduated from Jacksonville University in Florida, where he studied history and played Division 1 soccer, and later earned a Master’s in Education and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. Since beginning his professional career, Mike has been active in the community and in the field of education. He currently serves as a board member of the Nantucket Education Trust and serves on the Education Committee of the NHA. He is a former Governing Board member of the American Association of School Administrator and former president of the New Hampshire Superintendents Association.
Will Little is a summer resident of Nantucket, who also has homes in New York City and Lakeville, CT. Will received a BA in English from Princeton, and then graduated from Officer Candidate School at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Following four years of active duty in the United State Navy, Will entered his family’s business, George Little Management, a trade show production and management firm. He held many positions at the company, including President and Chairman, until the business was sold in 2007 and he retired. Will has recently been elected Trustee Emeritus at Bates College, where he served on the board for ten years. He currently serves on the board of WAMC Northeast Public Radio in Albany, NY, and will be joining the governing board of the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Alabama, in April of 2012. He is chairman of the Lakeville Journal Company and the three weekly newspapers it publishes.
