NANTUCKET, Mass.:Andrew Spencer, a fifth-generation summer resident of Nantucket who moved to the island year-round nine years ago, has joined the NHA administrative staff as Manager of Communications. Andrew graduated from the University of Texas with degrees in English and theater, and then earned his Masters in English from Baylor University. He taught college-level English and rhetoric at Texas Christian University and the University of Colorado prior to moving to Nantucket in 2002.
Andrew was one of the original editorial members of N Magazine, and he has done freelance work for nearly every current – and a few defunct – Nantucket-based publications. He spent four years working for a start-up New York-based marketing firm doing corporate communications, during which time he also wrote two books on the financial markets. He is an assistant coach for the Nantucket High School sailing team, and volunteers his time during the summer assisting with Nantucket Race Week and the Opera House Cup.
In his position at the NHA, Andrew will head-up communications and public relations efforts for all NHA-related events and properties, as well as lending his marketing brain to the organization’s efforts in that realm.
